Akemi Hiatt is a photographer, marketer, and creative living and working in New York's Hudson Valley. A graduate of NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, her artwork has most recently been exhibited in bookMARKS, presented by Light Work and the Society for Photographic Education at Syracuse University, Common Sense(s) at the Center for Photography at Woodstock, Correspondance II at Publication Studio Hudson, and DIY: Photographers and Books at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Her artist books are in the collections of the Indie Photobook Library based in Washington, D.C. and Booklet Library in Tokyo, Japan.

Her commercial clients include the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, Tuthilltown Spirits, Scripps Networks (the parent company of HGTV, Home & Gardens, DIY Network, and Travel Channel) and Woodstock Graphics Studio (post-production for Chris Stein / Negative: Me, Blondie, and the Advent of Punk published by Rizzoli.)

She is the Creative Director at Hidden Gears, a web development, design, and digital marketing agency headquartered in Catskill, NY, and formerly directed marketing efforts at Omi International Arts Center and Basilica Hudson. Before that, she was Program Associate at the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW).

Hiatt has reviewed portfolios at ICP's annual Career Day, the Society for Photographic Education, the New England Portfolio Reviews and Bard College, among others. She was on the jury the 2013 Light Work Grants and her curatorial endeavors include the CPW exhibitions To Be Authentic (2010), Surface Tension (2011), and The Web Is A Lonely Place, Come Play (2013).
